A big pat on the back for me please! and NO "I told you so's" from the peanut gallery....

Well.....last night was Dane's first night in his crib, and HE SURVIVED! Of course he didn't sleep through the night, but I wasn't keeping my hopes up for that, just crossing my fingers, eyes, and toes. He doesn't seem to mind the change in scenery, in fact I think he likes the crib! He has much more room in there to stretch out. He was kinda cramped in the bassinet. Even though my boy is growing up (can you believe he is 16 weeks old already?) he still looks really tiny in his big huge crib!! I slept really well (when I did sleep, he was still up almost every three hours) because i wasn't worried about making noises and waking him up. It's nice to have him in his OWN room too because now I can close the door to the nursery and not worry about waking him up while I am in the other rooms upstairs. Of course, nothing really wakes him up - but I still like to be quiet.

Another milestone, I let baby Dane cry himself to sleep today for his afternoon nap. Darren had to hold me back a couple of times because I wanted so badly to just go and comfort him. What seemed like an eternity was really only about 15 minutes of intermittent crying. Gosh, he is such a good boy I don't give him enough credit! I hear horror stories of some parents letting their kids cry it out for hours on end, so I should thank my lucky stars this is going as well as it is....(hopefully I am not counting my chickens before they are hatched either).

Tonight will be another big change - baby Dane will be getting his rice cereal right before his bedtime feeding. He wants absolutely nothing to do with formula (I actually tasted it and almost threw up - so I don't really blame him at all). We were giving him formula mixed with two ounces of breast milk in hopes that it would keep him fuller longer and he would sleep for an extended period of time. It only works if he eats it...ha!

So, I am going to give myself a pat on the back for today and last night...Go Nicki! Keep it up!! :o)
