Defense!! Defense!!

Is my monkey too little to learn some self defense? Apparently he is going to need it to protect himself from a bully at daycare. As I am sure you are already aware, he was bitten out of anger on Friday. Kids this age should not have the know-how to be doing anything out of anger, which makes me wonder - what is going on at his biters home? Luckily Dane is OK, and the bite did not draw blood. Had it drawn blood, the biter would been expelled (I asked why just because it didn't draw blood...biting is biting...and the teacher couldn't answer me). I was told that biting is not tolerated....um, the biter is still there so it IS tolerated in my book. One of the teachers said that this kid is a bully and they don't like him. For obvious reasons they cant tell me who it is, but I have my suspicions. When I hang out at daycare there is this one little boy that I always see pushing the other kids over. He is really big compared to anyone else in the class and honestly I think he should be moved into the toddler room. I do think that if Dane keeps getting hurt (almost every week I have to sign and incident report) we are going to switch day cares. It really sucks because I love the ladies at this center, but if the kids in Dane's class are bad, there is nothing that can be done I suppose. Anyway, my mixed feeling continue with this whole scenario. I've decided that since I cant figure out who I want to be mad at, I am not going to be mad at all. My monkey is OK, that's all that matters. Moving on....

We survived our first road trip!! Granted, it was only to Silver Bay, MN - which is about 3 hours away....We left in the morning and Dane slept the first 1.5 hours. Once he woke up I hopped in the back and fed him some snacks. He was great until he realized "hey, I've been sitting here for a long time!!" When we were about 30 minutes away from our destination he started to get crabby. I sang him some songs and let him play with whatever I could find in the backseat of D's car. We made it all in one piece!

We spent the day at the Smith's hanging out with their adorable new addition Isaiah. He is cute! He reminded me of how little Dane used to be, and it was weird holding him. I forgot how to be gentle! Makes me sad how much my monkey has grown up!

The trip home was great....we left at bedtime and Dane slept until we got to Duluth (about 45 minutes) There were so many street lights that it woke him up and scared him a little. I sat in the back with him and sung him some lullabies and he calmed down. Once we left Duluth the street lights went away and Dane was able to fall asleep. I climbed back into the front seat and I too fell asleep (sorry D!).

All in all it was a great trip and gave us a glimpse of what we are in for during our drive to PA! 3 hours is nothing compared to the 18 hours it will take us!
